Chapel Hill Comics would like to invite you to join us Saturday, August 8, from 6pm until 9pm, for our next exciting event!

Chapel Hill Comics will be hosting the release party for the hilarious new comic by Ryan Rubio and Thomas Boatwright, Zeke Deadwood, Zombie Lawman! We’ll have snacks and beer on hand, as well as original art from the comic, and more! Come on out and help us celebrate the launch of the comic!

Want to know more about this fine comic? Here’s the solicitation information from the publisher, Slave Labor Graphics:

Whenever innocent blood is spilled upon the sand of the American west, a foul wind blows in across the frontier! Fear not! For that foul stench belongs to ZEKE DEADWOOD: ZOMBIE LAWMAN. Created, drawn and co-written by award nominated artist Thomas Boatwright with Ryan Rubio (creators of Cemetery Blues) comes a classic western tale of Saturday matinee action with a healthy dose of B-movie horror. ZEKE DEADWOOD tells the story of a lone zombie out to clean up a small western town from a villainous band of outlaws. Can Zeke stop their drunken rampage of terror? Will the townsfolk even let themselves be saved by the undead? Find out this summer as Zeke Deadwood rides into a comic shop near you!

Thomas Boatwright is co-creator and artist of “Cemetery Blues”. His works have been nominated for Eagle and Harvey Awards. He enjoys spooky and vintage things and plays blues and old time folk music on a five string banjo.

Ryan Rubio is co-creator and writer of “Cemetery Blues”, a comic that allows him to pay homage to the old horror movies that he so loves. He enjoys a wide variety of movies and books, which have filled his mind with so much trivial nonsense that he often finds it hard to remember anything useful. Oddly enough, he managed to marry to a wonderful woman with whom he has a pet rabbit.

Not only do you get to hobnob with the pros, we’ll have copies of Zeke Deadwood, as well as other comics by Ryan and Thomas, like Cemetery Blues and The Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo (by Boatwright and Dright McPherson), which you’ll be able to pick up and have signed!

And there’ll be free snacks and beer! What more could you ask from a Saturday night at the local comic shop? Not much, I dare say.

Robot 13 Pinup

Daniel Bradford got with me a few hours ago about doing a pinup for issue 2 of Robot 13

I said yes and sketched this out. Then I inked it. Then I went ahead and colored it.

There ya go.

BTW After reading the first issue, it looks like Robot 13 is going to be a great series. Im very interested in the character. To make me want to buy a new series is quite an accomplishment in itself.
