Playing around with a sketch pen in photoshop and messing around with a coloring style. Basically coloring under and over the line art.

Baphomet County Cigar Box Guitar Player
Plan is to have a bunch of these little guys ready to launch around late summer. Just in time for autumn! I want to have a few of these with instruments and a tin can base, as well as some smaller ones with bottle cap bases. Looking into button making, a rag doll design (that my wife will actually be making) and of course some original art pieces, all featuring the little devil bats of Baphomet County and Belezebub Hoax's Brimstone Stompers jug band.

Afternoon Tea Prints
After some requests Ive added my Afternoon Tea piece back in the print shop. There's a couple of options for photo prints or a large size wrapped canvas if that's your thing. Click the image below to buy one from Deviant Art.

Storytime!!
So instead of just posting my nursery rhyme gags, Im making use of Sequential Matinee and set it up as a web comic of sorts: StoryTime with Thomas Boatwright!
I'm running the ones Ive done already this week and next week will start back with a brand new one once a week. It wont just be nursery rhymes, but condensed versions of other tales and songs I heard growing up.

The Thing is one of my favorite movies. I'm hard pressed to not watch it again straight away once the film ends.

Huanted Sheep and Giant Spiders
I did a sketch over the summer about Lil Bo Beep losing her sheep..that was possessed of a devil. The other day I finally drew something more finished based on the idea and it went over like gangbusters.
Ive done a couple more and will try to keep going at least once a week for as long as I'm interested and people still like them.
I made a page just for them on my blog to make it easy to find.

Zeke Deadwood: I Will Murder You All
So I mentioned having a new angle for the next Zeke Deadwood chapter. Last night some bit of it came to me. It's a much darker commentary on the old west and its legacy. So its less a sequel and more of a second volume of sorts.

Monster Preview and Donate
My Monster themed sketchbook (which is becoming more of an artbook) is coming along well. People have been in favor of its creation and responded accordingly.
Im in no position to create any real buzz around anything I do. I dont have the juice to build up a mystery around this thing to only be revealed after you bought your ticket. So im taking the other route of full disclosure behind the scenes access!
By clicking on the cover image below you can download a very low res rough version of the sketchbook! You can see the handful of crazy characters and strange vignettes I've put together for this project. Its a mix of pin-ups, fake posters, and short comics.
Now I could go through kickstarter and try to turn this into a bigger project. I dont think Im quite there yet. You need a larger fan base to make those successful and I havent had the exposure yet. Maybe this book will help change that?
So instead of a fund raiser, I offer you the preview for free! No commitments! It's a Little Rascals "pay as you exit" style of sales. You like this thing Im doing? Toss a couple of bucks in the donate bucket below.
Click the image for PDF preview! The donate button is below that if you're so inclined.

2013
2012 was the first year I made a living off of nothing but art. No other regular paychecks came my way. I didnt make quite as much, but I paid my share. My wife was very supportive and can see the long term goals Im going for. I can honestly say Ive never been happier or healthier as I am with her.
So the test year worked well. Let's dig in and see what we can do with this art stuff.
First off, ive got a Monster themed sketchbook in the works. I'm looking to start pre-orders mid January, have it completed and ready to print February, and start shipping first of March.
Next self-published project should be Catgut and Rum written by my friend Lincoln Griffin.
Ive had a breakthrough of sorts with Zeke Deadwood and Im planning the next chapter of that tale. Not quite a sequel as I like the way the first two chapters bookend each other. It'll be a second volume and deal with the west from a different perspective.
Cemetery Blues. I keep wanting to come back to working on that. I really love those boys and want to spend time in their world, but life is very short and there's a lot I want to draw. Ive sat down to try and work it out, but its just not coming together the way I want it to. Im not saying Ill never draw another Cemetery Blues. If a story hits me I will make sure it gets done. Im just not going to force once out for the sake of doing more. I apologize to all you Ridley and Falstaff fans ive teased over the year about more. Artists and cartoonists in particuler have bigger dreams than our hands can create at times.
2013 is the year where I focus on the things I need to do and things I want to do. If balanced properly 2014 will be the year im not just treading water, but Ill be on the boat.
and then we'll focus on getting a bigger boat in 2015.
